The term Garbha Pindasana has come from three Sanskrit language words

Where the first word is “Garbha (गर्भ)”, which means “Womb”

The second word is “Pinda (पिंड)”, which means “Embryo”

And the third word is “Asana (आसन)”, which means “Yoga Pose”

The Garbha Pindasana, also referred to as Embryo in Womb Pose, Fetus Pose, or Embryo Pose, is beneficial for pregnant women. This yoga posture is commonly practiced during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is believed to aid in preparing the fetus for proper positioning during birth.

Method of Doing Garbha Pindasana:

  • To do this asana, at first, lay flat on the floor or on a yoga mat
  • Then sit in the posture of Padmasana or Lotus Pose
  • Then tilt the body slightly backward and bring the knees back towards the body
  • After this, take the hands through your thighs
  • Now fold the elbows and make palms together or hold your mouth with your palms
  • Hold on to this posture about 30 to 60 seconds and breathe normally
  • Then gradually come back to the initial state
  • Repeat this posture twice or more
