How to Practice Surya Bhedana Pranayama

Step 1:

To do Surya Bhedana Pranayama, first of all, sit straight and close your eyes.

Step 2:

Make a pranayama mudra of the right hand.

Step 3:

For Pranayama Mudra, place the index and middle fingers on the forehead close the left nostril with the other two fingers, and slowly exhale through the right nostril.

Step 4:

Then inhale deeply through the right nostril while making a sound, and then hold the breath for a while.

Step 5:

Then exhale through the left nostril without making a sound.

Step 6:

This is called the one cycle of Surya Bhedana Pranayama.

Step 7:

Practice it 15-20 times in this manner.

Step 8:

Finally, exhale through the left nostril, bring the hands down, and sit quietly for a while.

Although this Surya Bhedana Pranayama is done with all three Bandhas, but initially practice it without holding your breath for a long time.

If you are a patient with high blood pressure, if you have heart disease or epileptic seizures, or if you are a person with bile tendencies, then do not practice this Surya Bhedana Pranayama.
